Turbomachinery

Experiment "Turboprop"

Institute of Turbomachinery and Fluid Dynamics [TFD]

Overview

The aim of the laboratory is to get to know the function and operation of a gas turbine plant. In this case, the operating behaviour of a gas turbine plant, which is used in aircraft modelling, is to be examined more closely. The laboratory includes investigations of different load conditions at typical operating parameters of the plant. Based on the collected data, the thermal efficiency of the entire unit can be calculated. With the help of further measured variables such as pressures, temperatures and the air flow in the gas turbine plant, the individual components (compressor, combustion chamber and turbine stages) can also be evaluated in their operating behaviour.
